Ipamorelin
Muscle · Muscle, Sleep, Recovery
Ipamorelin is the most selective of the growth hormone-releasing peptides, prompting a clean GH pulse without meaningfully raising cortisol, prolactin, or appetite. It is widely regarded as the 'cleanest' GHRP, with very few side effects.

Overview
Ipamorelin is a growth hormone-releasing peptide prized for its selectivity. It triggers a clean pulse of growth hormone without significantly raising cortisol, prolactin, or appetite, which is why it is often called the cleanest GHRP. It is administered by subcutaneous injection, and like all peptides, source quality and storage matter.
What the Research Shows
The cited research is modest and leans heavily on animal work. A human pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic study in healthy males showed dose-dependent but short-lived GH release. The one RCT, testing ipamorelin for postoperative ileus after bowel surgery, found it well tolerated but no better than placebo, an important reality check on its clinical value. A review explores GH secretagogues like ipamorelin for male hypogonadism and body composition. Several rat studies report increased longitudinal bone growth, improved bone formation alongside steroid treatment, and higher bone mineral content. Taken together, the human evidence is limited and one of its two trials was negative.
What the Community Says
Across 663 reports, sentiment was 40% positive, 39% neutral, and 21% negative. The most cited benefits were fat loss, improved sleep, recovery, muscle, raised IGF-1, and GH pulses. The side-effect reports deserve genuine caution: anaphylactic-shock was the single most reported adverse event, followed by flushing, insomnia, throat-tightness, water retention, and injection-site marks. The allergic-reaction reports in particular are a red flag worth heeding.
Dosage
The typical range is 100-300 mcg per injection, 2-3 times daily, best taken on an empty stomach and especially before bed, via subcutaneous injection.
Effectiveness
Users describe consistent GH release with good tolerability, and it is often recommended as a first GHRP for beginners. It is commonly stacked with CJC-1295 to amplify the effect.
Availability
Ipamorelin is sold as a research chemical by peptide suppliers and is widely stocked thanks to its popularity. Because product quality varies, sourcing from reputable vendors is important.
Bottom Line
Ipamorelin is popular and generally well tolerated, but its human evidence is thin, one of its two RCTs showed no benefit over placebo, and community reports of allergic reactions including anaphylaxis mean it should not be treated as risk-free.
Reported effects
- Clean GH Release: Raises GH with little impact on other hormones.
- No Hunger: Unlike many GHRPs, it does not drive appetite.
- Improved Sleep: Better sleep quality is frequently reported.
Reported side effects
- Minimal: The fewest side effects of any GHRP.
- Possible Head Rush: A brief sensation can follow injection in some users.
- Water Retention: Mild, and less than with other GHRPs.
